Beach Day

I took the kids to Huntington Beach the other day. It was a lot of fun, but very tiring and stressful for me. The kids enjoyed playing in the sand, until I took them into the water to play. They loved it! Sophia loved it so much she kept twisting so I'd let go of her and she could run into the waves by herself. She finally broke free and ran in, but fell face down and a wave covered her. After that it was all over. She wanted to go back on the shore and be bundled up. She also was scared to go back in. Ethan on the other hand, loved it and rolled around in the water. He also enjoyed throwing sand and running down the beach. I had a lot of chasing to do. I was sprinting all over the place to get him. On the way out he ran to a lifeguard tower and climbed up. The lifeguard told him to get down and just smiled and shook her head at me. I just smiled back and waved to thank her. She also laughed at me sprinting around to try and catch him half way down the beach heading back for the water. I was carrying Sophie and the big bag of stuff so it was hard keeping Ethan by me. Another observer commented to me that it looked like they are hard to keep up with. I just laughed and said that it's true. Sophie was already at the top of the stairs while I was scolding Ethan for running away. Yeah, they do keep me really busy. Ethan also had a screaming fit all the way to the car. I could tell he needed a nap badly. He lost his sandal in the middle of the cross walk and freaked out. I had to go back and get it at the next light. He also made a big scene screaming at me because he wanted me to carry him. But with me carrying Sophie and the big heavy bag of stuff there just was no way. He fell asleep fast on the way home. It was still a fun day even though it was a little crazy. I just don't think I'll go to the beach alone with them being this little still. I'll be sure to bring someone along. It's hard being in two places at once.
